If your case is more involved, we can add sedation to help you relax. We’ll put some gauze in after the tooth is out to stop the bleeding, and go over the aftercare with you before you go home.

Caring for Your Mouth After an Extraction

Healing goes smoothly when you follow a few simple steps. Bite down gently on gauze for the first few hours to help a blood clot form. Do not rinse, spit, or use straws for at least 24 hours.

Eat soft foods and avoid chewing on the side of the extraction. Take any prescribed or suggested pain medication as directed. Call our office if you experience increasing pain, swelling, or fever after a few days.
